Kirkby on Furness |
This branch line terminus in the Furness area of Cumbria is set in the period
1909 to 1920. The station plan is based on Coniston which was the terminus
of a Furness Railway branch from Foxfield on the coast line llinking Barrow
in Furness to Whitehaven and Carlisle. |
The station is the imaginary terminus of two lines, one operated jointly by the Furness
Railway and the London and North Western Railway, the other jointly by the
Midland Railway and the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway |
Locomotives and rolling stock are all kit built and are typical of that used in the
area prior to the grouping of 1922. Of special interest are the four steam railmotors (one from each company), an example
is shown below. |
Trackwork is to finescale 'OO' standards using C and L point kits and SMP flexitrack.
|
The buildings are also all kit built, the station and engine shed are from the 'Townscape'
range whilst the low relief buildings are from the 'Langley' range. |
The layout measures 14ft by 10ft and is owned by Paul Barker. |
